Let’s Recognize California’s Hidden Heroes!

California’s Hidden Heroes might not be wearing superhero capes or masks but they still know how to save the day. Hidden Heroes wear everyday clothes and are helping their family and friends live healthy lives by getting affordable health care. CCHI, along with our member organizations the Community Health Initiative of Kern County, Inland Empire Children’s Health Initiative, Children’s Health Initiative of Santa Barbara, Sacramento Covered, and Yolo Children’s Alliance, want to recognize the Hidden Heroes in your life and share their stories to encourage others to be a hero for their community. Healthy children are a healthy California, and we want to ensure the over three-quarters of uninsured children in California who are eligible for Medi-Cal get the coverage they need.

Throughout July, we’ll be featuring and thanking the moms, dads, neighbors, enrollment counselors, policymakers, family members, friends and others helping California kids stay strong and healthy. We have some fun social media things planned to celebrate our Hidden Heroes and we hope you will join us!

The first involves a prize! All you have to do is send us a tweet using the hashtag #MyHiddenHero or comment on our Facebook post here. Include a sentence and a photo if you have one about the #MyHiddenHero who helped you, your family or others get covered. We’ll select the top three stories and let our social media friends pick the winner. The winner will receive family tickets and snack vouchers to a local sports game (baseball, soccer, the choice will be yours!), so don’t miss this exciting opportunity!

The second event we have planned is a Twitter chat on July 24th at 12-1 PM with advocates like Moms Rising and the The California Endowment! We’ll be taking questions about enrollment options in communities and talking about ways to ensure that all California’s uninsured children get coverage.

Let’s save the day together!
